Creating characters for children’s books is one of my favorite parts of being an author. I start by imagining a personality—a shy bunny, a brave little girl, or a curious robot. Then I think about their challenges and dreams. What will kids learn from them? How will they grow?
Next comes the world-building: colors, landscapes, friendships, and adventures. Every detail is chosen to spark joy and creativity. Watching these characters come to life on the page reminds me why I write—to give children stories that make them smile, think, and dream.
